I've spent over 15 years in hospitality recruitment and operations, working with some of the world's most recognized hotels, resorts, and dining brands. Across every role and every market, I kept seeing the same problems:
Hiring was painfully slow and inefficient, with roles sitting unfilled for weeks or months.
HR teams were buried under CVs that all looked the same, unable to assess soft skills or cultural fit quickly.
Candidates were left frustrated by long waits, repetitive interviews, and missed opportunities.
I knew there had to be a better way. That's why Say HELO! was built — a hospitality recruitment solution that combines structured video applications with smart pre-screening. Matt and Alex are childhood friends, who started working together in the design and launch of a hospitality venue back in 2007. They remained close friends whilst pursuing their respective careers - Alex in International Hospitality Recruitment - Matt in Design - to come full circle in 2020 to create a solution that the world of international hospitality has been crying out for.
Their collaboration keeps the story balanced: Alex holds the global hospitality relationships, Matt steers the platform craft, so that Say HELO! has been equally balanced as a business.
Since 2007, I've been creating innovative solutions for a wide range of clients from individuals and start-ups to the world's biggest brands. I've been trusted to take ideas from initial concept to grand design completion, across a range of industries. I've consistently achieved stand-out results by really understanding the people I'm creating for and the past, present and future of the markets in question.
In 2020 during lockdown, Alex came to me with a vision he'd been working on, to revolutionize international hospitality recruitment. Any successful solution now had to really understand the evolution of international hospitality, in the context of an industry that had seen seismic shifts. I spent the next 5 years working closely with Alex, actively in international recruitment, to understand the requirements and pain points of both employers and candidates.
Two separate platforms were developed that address the needs and desires of each group. They seamlessly integrate with each other for the best user experience and results for everyone!
